Mid-Season Recap

ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning does a mid-season awards show.  In lieu of this idea I though it would be cool to do something similar, and a blog recap for the first eight weeks of the inaugural TTC regular season.

TEAMS AND OWNERS

As you can see, regulator088 is not surprising anyone in this league with the likely, but impressive 8-0 start. Kyle's strategy has been to pick very lop-sided match ups and his opponents have taken the lesser of the two teams because they fear Madison Tecmo X champ.  So far this is working for Kyle because he is living up to his end of the bargain by winning, but is also racking up statistics with the uneven matches.  Can the same be said for his teammates though?  Right now it is tough to argue that regulator088 is not the force to be reckoned with in this league.

After regulator088 you can see the league diversity of talent, especially in spots two through seven.  Of this bunch, something has to be said for ryan11p of Team MV.  Ryan was "Mr. Irrelevant" in the inaugural team draft.  Ryan is easily one of the most improved players in live console tournaments and in online Tecmo.  This league is excellent evidence of that.  Ryan started out really hot and led Team MV for most of the first eight weeks.

In spots eight through twelve it is incredible to see some of those records with the talent that is in here.  All five players have lost heart-breaking games due to Tecmo luck and could easily have reversed records.  It will be interesting to see where everyone shakes out.

Team MV is leading the team race at the half way point of the season by a margin of 11 points (47.5 to 36.5).  Tecmo Allies are leading four of the five statistical categories (all except INTs).  If the season ended at this point, the total would be:

Team MV = 72.5
Tecmo Allies = 56.5

The seeds for the playoffs would be (remember that points earned determines playoff seed and highest/best seeds get first choice of team):

The live Pro Bowl game would feature the top offensive owners for each team and top defensive owner for each team.  These players would play their respective series live on console at the next major tournament.  If the season ended today it would be:

Offense:  red98sethuthut (Team MV) and regulator088 (Tecmo Allies)

Defense:  bigmv54 (Team MV) and coconuts622 (Tecmo Allies)

Team MV would have choice of AFC or NFC roster and would be Player 1 (Home) for the Pro Bowl game if the season ended today because they had the highest regular season point total.

*If any of the above participants are in the Super Bowl they forfeit their spot in the Pro Bowl game.  In the event of this happening the second place offensive owner and defensive owner for each team would fill their spot.

League Leaders in rushing are:

Here are some interesting statistics for the first half of the inaugural season:

1. Player 1 (Home) has won 56.3% of the time while Player 2 (Away) has won 43.7% of the time.
2. Team MV has been Player 1 (Home) 23 times while the Tecmo Allies have been Player 1 (Home) 25 times.
3. Team MV won 62.5% (15/24) games when they called the match up.
4. Tecmo Allies won 58.3% (14/24) games when they called the match up.
5. All 28 teams were used in match up selections during the first eight weeks.  The team that was selected in match ups the most was the Phoenix Cardinals (6).  The team used the least was the Indianapolis Colts (1).
6. Undefeated teams in match up calls are the Eagles, 49ers, Bills, Giants, and Dolphins.  The Cardinals won the most games (4).
7. Teams without wins in match up calls are the Colts, Chiefs, Patriots, and Rams.
8. Team MV's favorite team to use was the Cardinals and Tecmo Allies really did not have a favorite team to choose.
9. Most points earned in a single game was 5 points (Week 1:  bigmv54 vs. regulator088)
10. Least amount of points earned in a single game was 0.5 points (Week 2:  tecmodell42 vs tecmopsycho)
