Season I Recap

Tecmo Team Cup definitely made its mark as being on of the most unique leagues in Online Tecmo history. Season I saw Team MV controlling for much of the first half of the season only to lose the lead on a few key matchup calls.  The first of these two matchups was in Week 11 when tecmodell42, who was really struggling up to that point, pulled off the biggest upset of the season, when he defeated bigmv54 (Oilers) with the Cowboys.  This game gave tecmodell42 a six point swing and thrust the Tecmo Allies into a virtual deadlock going into Week 12.  This was followed up in Week 15 with a bigmv54 loss to regulator088 in a Steelers / Oilers matchup.  After regulator088 torched the Steelers in a Week 13 matchup for 480 yards, bigmv54 didn't want to see that debacle again, but regulator088 scored another 7 points on the upset and gave the Tecmo Allies the lead for good.

End of the regular season team score:

Tecmo Allies 93.5 points

Team MV 83.5 points

Tecmo Allies won the regular season and received the 20 point bonus for the team victory.  The Allies netted 15 more points in the League Leader categories.

FGs: 16 (ones11fahzu)
Sacks: 29 (regulator088)
INTs:  15 (regulator088)

Team MV was able to rally late season charges in rushing and passing to stop the bleeding with 10 bonus points.

Rushing: 2,352 (tecmopsycho)
Passing:  3,209 (red98sethuthut)

As the playoffs opened up, regulator088 had the first pick after an incredible Season I finish of 15-1 and 34 points earned.  After selecting the Oilers, tecmodell42 picked the 49ers.  Tecmodell42's selection prompted a Season II Amendment to how playoff teams would be selected.  Tecmodell42 only finished the season with a 6-9-1 record and losing 6 points for his team.  Since he had two huge week gains he edged out Team MV's Ryan11p by a half point (Ryan11p finished his season at 9-7 and netted 8 points for his team.

As seen in the playoff tree above Team MV was mathematically still alive until the NFC Championship between the 49ers and the New York Giants.  LuckyTool managed to defeat the Season I MVP in a Dolphins / Oilers matchup 26-7.

LuckyTool had a tall task of taking on the 49ers in the Season I Super Bowl with his Dolphins:
